We’re proud to share that Landart’s Creative Director, Matt Leacy, has contributed to James Hardie’s Modern Homes Forecast 2026 – a thoughtful look at 8 popular, enduring and emerging modern home styles, reimagined this year.
Matt joined a panel of leading industry voices to help shape the forecast, alongside:
- Neale Whitaker, Interior Design Expert
- Justin Logan, Architect and Founder of Obi Office
- Rebecca Caratti, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Living
- Jenny Li, Trend Specialist at WGSN
Together, the group explored where Australian homes are headed, from creative expression to smarter, more efficient living, and the way the garden, architecture and interiors come together to shape how we live.
About the project
Now in its third edition, the Modern Homes Forecast brings together comprehensive research from global trend forecaster WGSN, first-hand insights from Milan Design Week, and perspectives from leading Australian designers.
The 2026 edition identifies three forces reshaping the way we live:
01 Evolved Living | Homeowners are choosing fewer, better-designed spaces in response to cost-of-living and environmental pressures.
02 Multigenerational Living | As more Australian families form complex, adaptable households.
03 Autonomous Living | A growing appetite for calm, self-sufficient homes that reduce daily cognitive load.
Across eight distinct home styles, the forecast paints a clear picture: Australians are designing with more intent, more joy and more personality than ever.
The result is a series of eight beautifully produced handbooks, each dedicated to a different way of living and a distinct home style.
“For real Aussie living,
this is the next era of modern homes.”
